Freedom!

Those who are familiar with the holidays of the United States will know that on the fourth day of this month we celebrate the idea of our independence as a nation. For us addicts and alcoholics we have something very similar to applaud, our miraculous freedom from addiction. In the Big Book titled "Alcoholics Anonymous," it states that "we have ceased fighting anything or anyone- even alcohol. For by this time sanity will have returned." (p.84) Unlike the victory the United States is commemorating, we have won our independence through surrender and complete DE-pendance upon our Higher Power. Through this act of grace we have returned to sanity and our gratitude for that gift alone is overwhelming. Not only have we been given a life that we never knew existed we have also "found much of heaven and we have been rocketed into a fourth dimension of existence of which we had not even dreamed."(Big Book p.25)

We invite you now to join with us in our daily discovery of what our freedom truly means. Through our experiences of the 12 Steps and A Course in Miracles our moments of sadness, pain and death have been transformed and healed, leaving us far beyond the misery we had once only known. We thank God today and in this moment that we have an alternative and that the decision has been laid out for us. All we have to do now is accept is as our freedom and return home. Thank you Father!

Online 12step and Course Conference: This month we are celebrating our SECOND Online Course in Miracles and 12 Step Conference. It’s a one day conference taking place on Saturday July 7th at 10am Central Standard Time to 3pm. The event will take place at meetings.12stepmiracle.com. Look at our home page for more information about the upcoming conference. We will be posting recordings from the last conference on our home page as well so keep an eye out for them.

5 day Retreat in July: There is also a five day retreat being held at the Miracles Healing Center in Wisconsin Dells, WI, from Wednesday, July 4^th to Sunday, July 8^th. And remember, if you attend you can come to our open speaker meeting “A Way Out” combining the 12 steps and A Course in Miracles on Thursday night at 7pm at the Miracles Healing Center.

Miracles In The Light of Freedom

"Above all else I want the freedom to remember Who I am." – A Course In Miracles. Lately my experience of freedom has been flowing from the radical realization that I always have a choice.

There is a rationale for choice. Only one Teacher knows what your reality is.

Freedom through Rules?

Freedom for me used to be to get my own will. So most of my life I fought, rebelled, defended, manipulated and controlled, to try to get my own will. I did not find freedom through doing so, because I felt exhausted, opposed and in defense against the guilt I felt deep within.

Freedom from all addictions

I keep getting dislodged. Carlos Castaneda talks about an "assemblage point" and he says that a good teacher (a warrior) will constantly dislodge the assemblage point but because we are so rooted in habit that it moves back automatically by itself to the old position.
