A Course In Miracles International
-AA Big Book, pg 42 (2):
"I have since been brought into a way of living infinitely more satisfying and, I hope, more useful than the life I lived before. My old manner of life was by no means a bad one, but I would not exchange its best moments for the worst I have now. I would not go back to it even if I could."

What 12 Step literature says about Step Eleven

ImageWe have the experience of the miracle of the loss of the conflict of our perceptual identity and we enter into a union with God which is the basis of all of the teachings. “God is the Mind with which I think.” “Thy will not mine be done”.

“Perhaps one of the greatest rewards of meditation and prayer is the sense of belonging that comes to us. We no longer live in a completely hostile world. We are no longer lost and frightened and purposeless. The moment we catch even a glimpse of God's will, the moment we begin to see truth, justice and love as the real and eternal things in life, we are no longer deeply disturbed by all the seeming evidence to the contrary that surrounds us in purely human affairs.

We know that God lovingly watches over us. We know that when we turn to Him, all will be well with us (God's will for me is perfect happiness), here and hereafter.”

And this is actually what this says : We are not saints. The point is we are willing to grow along spiritual lines. In that sense, we are claiming only momentary spiritual progress to this determination because the result is not here. But we open our hearts and our minds. We have the experience of the miracle of the loss of the conflict of our perceptual identity and we enter into a union with God which is the basis of all of the teachings. “God is the Mind with which I think.” “Thy will not mine be done”.
