| "I was to test my thinking by the new God-consciousness within. Common sense would thus become uncommon sense. I was to sit quietly when in doubt, asking only for direction and strength to meet my problems as He would have me." |
Step Five: Admitted to God, to ourselves, and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs.

The Holy Spirit asks of you but this; bring to Him every secret you have locked away from Him. Open every door to Him, and bid Him enter the darkness and lighten it away. At your request He enters gladly. He brings the light to darkness if you make the darkness open to Him.
This vital Step was also the means by which we began to get the feeling that we could be forgiven, no matter what we had thought or done.
We pocket our pride and go to it, illuminating every twist of character, every dark cranny of the past. Once we have taken this step, withholding nothing, we are delighted. We can look the world in the eye. We can be alone at perfect peace and ease.
In your willingness to be honest, with yourself, with God and with another, the truth is given you. This step ends the doubting, the fruitless searching, the vain attempts at conscious contact with your Creator. It really is the beginning of forgiveness and the end of illusions. The 5th step opens the doors to the consistency, the confidence, and the inheritance of The Father to which you are entitled.
